URL addresses????

As I wrote my last post, I thought ok I would try to upload a picture to the post.  Here I go, I click that lil picture icon at the top of the page.  All the choices, phone, blog Picasa web albums, webcam or URL.  OK I think, to get my picture from Flickr to here, I must use the URL.  So I hop over to Flickr and find the URL address and copy it.  I hop back over to my blog here and darn it says it does not recognize or find it.  I can't remember the wording exactly.  Frustration sets in.  I just want something that should be simple to WORK!!!!

My name is Slacker!

Yelp I am Slacker.  One who thinks, oh I should be doing this or that.  And low and behold it is April 14th and I have not even posted a picture here lately.  Slacker I am.

Not much has been going on other than I have been having a hoot with my 'Year of the Giraffe' class.  Last month we had to make stuff giraffes.  I created three.  I will post pictures later.  Still not sure how to upload from Flickr to the post I am typing right now.  This month is has been cartoons, inventions, this coming week a haiku and the last week a story about a giraffe.  Was hoping to come up with a little story in the style of Seuss.  But I shall see what comes out once I start creating it.

Visiting

Ahh!  Today is President's Day and I have the day off.  Slept in a little.  Ran the vacuum over the bedrooms while my husband is at the gym, then I was drawn to the computer and started reading Carla Sonnheim's blog.  I started back in 2007 and started skimming over her posts.  I have taken a few classes of hers and I wanted to learn a bit more about this wonderful artist.  I so can relate to her past posts.

Now to the Giraffe class, I have been having a few roadblocks this month.  This month we were to create mix media giraffes.  I start working on one and then it ends in the trash.  LOL, I have created one that I really like.  I have put it the side because I am not completely finish with it, but I do not want to mess it up.  I have a few ideas on how to finish it.

Well, need to finish vacuuming and get a shower.  Hubby will be home soon and we have a morning date.

February, Already??

I cannot believe that today is February 1st.  My how time flies.  Today the other artists and I received our next assignment from Carla Sonnheim today.  We are going to work on mix media giraffes.  I cannot wait till I can get home and dabble in all the different mediums I have to work with.  When I think of mix media giraffes, one in particular pops into my head, it is a work by Elizabeth Hilaire Nelson.  She creates paper paintings and they are wonderful.  She had posted some of her older work recently and one was of a giraffe.  It was beautiful.  In fact I admire her work so much, I just recently purchased a small piece from her.  I have it hanging in my studio with some other art from my friend Kim Hambric.  Kim has worked in fabric and now is focusing more on mix media herself.  There are so many artists that inspire me.  These are just a few.  They all have blogs and when I become a bit more blog savvy, I will be able to add their links.

Aaah, I have not been creating as many giraffes as I had planned for the month of January. I cannot wait till February to find out the new assignment.

Procrastination

As I sit on my couch this fine Saturday afternoon, I find myself procrastinating.  I had great plans for today, but so far they have not panned out.  First, I was going to join a conference call with Carla Sonheim and the other artists that signed up for her year long class.  Well I forgot, I ended up at the Belleville Flea Market this morning with my husband.  Had a great time there, but I won't get another chance to chat till next month, but then the flea market is only once a month.  I still have a few odd Christmas items out and the reason why you might be wondering,  I had planned to go through every box we have and get rid of items I have not used or displayed in years.  Well, that plan was a no go.  Checked out some of the works on the Flickr today of the latest giraffes.  Great stuff.  So I grabbed my sketch book, some drawing pencils and they are sitting right beside me, but I have yet started to draw.  I am feeling guilty about the Christmas items sitting out, but I have another excuse for not finishing it right now, is my husband is working the 3rd shift at his job for the next 3 months, and he is sleeping.  So, shhhhhh, I need to be quiet.

Finding the Time

Oh how does one that want to create and work a full time job, find the time to create?  After I come home from work and have dinner, I am tired.  Last night I wanted to work on a giraffe drawing that I am incorporating a zentangle pattern in.  I started drawing and next thing I knew I was falling asleep.  I have such a hard time juggling work, housework and creating.  What to do about that, I do not know.

Well I am at work and wanted to post a little message.  I have some time now, my student is in therapy.  So till later.

The Year of the Giraffe

Ok, I am still trying to figure this blogging stuff out, since I do not post that often.  I am able to get a picture from Flickr over to the blog, but I want to add it to a blog that I am typing, not just post it as a photo.  Anyone out there that might just happen to pop by, who would know how to do this, please leave a comment.  I hate to waste the time trying to figure out something that is probably very simple.

But it is the year of the giraffe, and I hope to post pictures of my journey!
